In the deal, Microtest, a developer, manufacturer, and marketer of local area network cable management, troubleshooting, and CD-connectivity products, will purchase Logicraft`s capital stock for $13 million and will assume certain liabilities for about $4 million. Since 1993, Logicraft has been owned by Information Handling Systems Inc., a database information publisher and value-added reseller of CD-networking systems.

Pentair Inc. (St. Paul, MN), a manufacturer with enclosure businesses for the electrical and electronic industries, has announced it will charter a new division--HS Systems--to focus on high-growth Information Communications Technology and industrial original equipment manufacturers markets. The new division, which will be in Rhode Island, will be led by Udo Schroff, the president of Schroff Inc. (Warwick, RI). John Abbott, former vice president of Hoffman Engineering, will take over as president of Schroff.

The merger of Thomas & Betts Corp. (T&B--Memphis, TN) and Augat Inc. (Mansfield, MA) was recently finalized after shareholders from both corporations voted to approve the merger. Billed as T&B`s largest purchase in its 98-year history, the acquisition was valued at about $550 million. The move is expected to strengthen T&B`s fiber-optic product line and increase its market presence. Augat is a manufacturer of connector products.
