Fiber-optic capabilities the focus of web seminar

Sept. 9, 2013
September 26 event will discuss speeds, distances and system testing.

A web-delivered seminar hosted by Cabling Installation & Maintenance will focus on the many capabilities of fiber-optic cabling systems, examining their practical applications in today’s networks as well as their promise for future networks. Titled “Fiber-optic Cabling for High Speeds and Long Distances,” the web seminar will take place live on Thursday, September 26. After its live broadcast, it will be available for on-demand viewing for six months.

In describing the seminar’s content and themes, Cabling Installation & Maintenance said, “Even at the highest available speeds, a fiber-optic cabling system supports data transmission for long distances. Whether the environment is an enterprise, multi-building campus, or data center, the robust capabilities of a fiber-optic infrastructure support users’ current high-speed applications and promise to support their needs of tomorrow as well. This seminar explores the optical-fiber media, connectivity hardware, and verification methods that make high-speed long-distance communication a reality.”

The seminar will include the following three presentations.

  • How Fiber-Optic Cable Meets Demanding Speed and Distance Requirements—Delivered by Tony Irujo, sales engineer with OFS.
  • Fiber Connectivity for High-Speed Applications—Delivered by Dwayne Crawford, product line manager for fiber connectivity solutions with Belden
  • Ensuring Performance Levels in Installed Cabling Systems—Delivered by Dan Payerle, business unit manager for datacom test with Ideal Industries

The seminar is expected to take one hour but may run a few minutes longer than that as panelists answer questions from the audience. Holders of BICSI professional credentials can earn one ITS continuing education credit toward those credentials by attending the seminar in its entirety.

You can find more information about the seminar, including detailed descriptions of each presentation, here. You can register for the seminar here.
