2-port, Gigabit-speed 48VDC PoE midspan

Injector from L-com provides 33.5W of power to each of its two ports.

L-com has added a 2-port, Gigabit-speed Power over Ethernet injector/midspan that provides 48VDC at 33.5W of power to each of its two ports via its internal power supply. The PS4834GB-POE-2 includes built-in circuit protection, which the company says helps prevent damage to attached equipment.

The midspans are IEEE 802.3af- and at-compatible and can work on any 10/100/1000-Mbit/sec network. “These units have keyhole slots in the rear for wall-mounting,” L-com explains, “and the expendable slide/groove design allows multiple units to be fastened together by sliding one into the grooves on the side of another … The list price is under US$50, making them an affordable way to futureproof electronics installations.”

The company’s director of product development, Patrick Pesa, commented, “As PoE adoption grows, so does the need for flexibility to meet the changing demands of the technology. In the past 12 months we’ve introduced all-in-one midspans and splitter/taps with adjustable DC outputs, and these new products continue those efforts to enhance the flexibility of PoE.”
