Online tool enables patch-cord customization

Leviton’s online ordering capabilities let users specify cords from more than 200 options.

Leviton has launched an online copper patch-cord customization tool. It allows customers to configure cords for their specific applications by selecting cord type, color and exact length.

“Using the copper patch cord configuration tool, users can quickly and easily choose from nine cord types, eight jacket colors and 200 lengths,” Leviton said when announcing the configurator’s availability. “After customers select their options, they receive a part number for each unique cord and specific ordering details.”

Leviton Network Solutions senior product manager Kirk Krahn said, “We are excited to offer our customers this online tool to make it simpler for them to select the exact cords they need for their network. Our custom patch cords reduce installation costs and eliminate the waste and tangle of excess cord lengths by allowing customers to select the appropriate length for their application.”

The cords are available in Category 5e, 6 and 6A UTP and shielded options. The company says each cord meets or exceeds all component-performance standards. The cords also feature strain-relief boots and options for a narrow boot design to reduce crowding in high-density applications.
