March 27, 2009--The Wire & Cable Manufacturers' Alliance (WCMA) has named Bob Kenny, vice president and general manager/datacom products at General Cable, as a recipient of one of its 2009 Distinguished Career Awards. The 25th Annual Awards Dinner and Investiture Ceremony will take place on April 18 in Windsor, CT.
"Bob is a well-recognized technology and commercial leader in the communications industry and truly deserves this recognition," says Greg Lampert, president and CEO of General Cable North America. "General Cable is fortunate to have him at the helm of our datacom business, as he continues to accelerate the growth and drive quality initiatives."
Earlier this year, CI&M interviewed Kenny about some of his career accomplishments. You can see that interview with Bob Kenny here.
Kenny's most recent accomplishment is in the participation and supervision of the joint development with Panduit for the Mosaic Crossblock technology, a patent-pending tape that shields the GenSPEED 10 MTP Cat 6a 10-Gig cable from noise coming from external cable sources (alien crosstalk), and eliminates the need for grounding.
Over the years, Kenny has held senior-level management positions in technology, marketing, and general management with DuPont, Belden, and ADC/Krone. He has been instrumental in creating several key premise cabling patents, and to date, he has been named on 23 U.S. Patents within the communications industry.
