PoE-Powered Ceiling Speaker System
Extron recently introduced its first Power over Ethernet (PoE) speaker, the NF 4C LP. The 4-inch ceiling speaker system “features scalable power, DSP, and Dante connectivity,” the company said when announcing it. The speaker is capable of driving up to three external passive speakers from its integrated 4-channel amplifier. Extron describes it as “a single-cable solution for individual zones within larger distributed ceiling speaker systems.”
Using the company’s DSP Configurator Pro software, the digital signal processor integrated into the speaker can be set up independently for each amplifier channel, with essential processing per zone. “Dante Domain Manager and AES67 support ensure wide compatibility with enterprise configurations and other network audio devices,” Extron adds.
“The 4-inch full-range driver features a wide and smooth frequency range of 110 Hz to 20 kHz, and is engineered with a practical 135-degree conical dispersion,” the company continues. “Available in packages of 2, 3, or 4 speakers, the NF 4C LP meets the requirements of complex, decentralized systems with a self-contained PoE-powered speaker solution.”
The NF 4C LP joins other PoE-powered technologies in Extron’s portfolio, including the NetPA 204 POE power amplifier, which the company’s chief marketing officer Casey Hall described as “instantly popular.” He added, “The NF 4C LP expands our line of PoE-powered, Dante-enabled solutions,” concluding that the speaker system “offers an additional design option to our customers.”
