March 4, 2008 -- Superior Essex Inc. announced that its 10Gain Category 6A UTP cable product line has been verified by Underwriter's Laboratory (UL) to meet the latest cable specification requirements of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).

The TIA specification, 568B.2-10, recently received committee approval and is expected to be officially published by June 2008. TIA 568B.2-10 sets the electrical performance requirements for copper cables and components used in support of the 10-Gigabit Ethernet application protocol, IEEE 802.3an.

"Although the TIA specification has been changed numerous times since draft versions were first issued in 2005, all of the 10Gain cable we have shipped to date has been designed to meet the final set of 10G specification requirements," comments Dr. Paul Neveux, director of premises product management for Superior Essex. "With the specification about to be officially published, we felt it was important to provide to our customers with the additional level of performance assurance that is associated with the UL Verification program."

Superior Essex plans to make 10Gain cable UL Verification test results available to its customers upon request. Additional details on the company's 10Gain product line are available here.
