Schneider Electric lauded for green energy management

Jan. 17, 2013
Verdantix has recognized Schneider Electric for its energy management and sustainability software applications.

Schneider Electric, a specialist in energy management for data centers, announced that independent analyst firm Verdantix has named the company a technology leader in its 2013 Green Quadrant Energy Management Software report. Schneider Electric is recognized for its energy management and sustainability software applications, along with its strong leadership and vision. According to the report, Schneider “articulated the most grounded and detailed vision for market evolution.” Schneider Electric was one of three companies cited as a clear market leader in the report.

According to Janet Lin, senior manager and co-head of the Energy Practice at Verdantix, “As evident by the report, Schneider Electric has clearly positioned itself as a leader in the energy management software field by understanding the marketplace and creating solutions that meet the growing demands of this sector.”

The Green Quadrant Report combined benchmark data from 14 live product demonstrations, responses to a 134 point questionnaire and interviews with an independent customer panel composed of 15 current or potential users of enterprise energy management software, representing firms with combined revenues of $340 billion. The report is intended to help senior executives and decision-makers across all industries select software providers to help them manage their firm’s energy supply, consumption and cost from the facility to the enterprise level. These roles include chief sustainability officers, CFOs, directors of energy and facilities, and heads of procurement.

The strong showing in the report resulted from evaluations of Schneider Electric’s "Resource Advisor" and "Energy Operation" software applications. Both are key elements of Schneider's StruxureWare, the company’s platform of integrated software applications designed to help customers maximize business performance and be more efficient and sustainable. The newest StruxureWare software suites specifically address key market segments such as data center, grid, healthcare and water, with each suite delivering integration for third-party offers and legacy systems, as well as a scalable platform and a consistent user experience.

Resource Advisor is Schneider's enterprise-level StruxureWare application that provides secure access to the data, reports, and summaries that drive energy and sustainability programs. This application's capabilities resulted in Green Quadrant best-in-class scores for procurement and on-site energy generation project planning.

Energy Operation’s functionality resulted in the Green Quadrant’s highest score on industrial and manufacturing plant data capture with best-in-class integration capabilities for SCADA systems and process historians for sectors such as basis resources and chemicals. Energy Operation comprises a flexible and scalable energy management information system that aggregates energy data into a single view to support energy efficiency initiatives. The application transforms data into essential energy information to identify areas for continuous improvement and reduce operating expenses.

“Our position as a leader in this report is a direct reflection of Schneider Electric’s commitment to addressing our clients’ most challenging energy and sustainability issues,” comments Steve Wilhite, CEO, Summit Energy, a subsidiary of Schneider Electric. “As the report discusses, we continue to see an increased need for companies to manage, report, and optimize their energy and sustainability performance and it is our skill in bringing these areas together and providing leadership that ultimately drives value for our clients.”
