Seattle-based Sabey Data Centers has selected MRV Communications to provide its OptiDriver optical transport platform to connect Sabey’s data center networks. Sabey is deploying the new equipment in its proprietary Intergate.Exchange (IGX) network to support interconnection bandwidth requirements at Intergate.Manhattan, its new mega-data center in New York City.
Intergate.Manhattan is billed as "the largest, tallest, and most connected of New York City’s data centers" and the city’s only purpose-built data center that provides managed wholesale colocation space as well as turnkey, powered shell and lab space, the operator asserts. MRV’s recently launched OptiDriver platform will provide up to 4 Tbps of protected capacity as the foundation for connections between Intergate.Manhattan at 375 Pearl Street and the city’s other large data centers at 60 Hudson Street, 111 Eighth Avenue, and 32 Avenue of the Americas.

“Our brand new IGX fiber connection at Intergate.Manhattan requires high bandwidth and resiliency to ensure high levels of service to our customers, and efficient energy usage to lower costs and improve our environmental footprint in the largest data center in the city,” comments John Sabey, president of Sabey Data Centers.
MRV says the OptiDriver platform will also provide Sabey Data Centers with higher capacity, power-efficiency, intelligence, and flexibility. The company asserts that its optical transport platform improves manageability while reducing energy required for system operation and cooling, offering a competitive advantage in terms of ongoing energy and operational costs.
