The second event in Anixter's Virtual Data Center Seminar series, which will address issues of security in data center facilities, will take place Thursday, August 16. Hosted from Anixter's Infrastructure Solutions Lab in Glenview, IL, the seminar will include live interaction among host and attendees, a feature video presentation, live streaming interactive panel discussion, and a pavilion of partner sponsors available for live interaction with attendees.
In describing the dynamics of security and data centers, Anixter explained, "It's now commonplace to consider a data center as a mission-critical facility. An organization's ability to function depends on the availability of data center services. Protecting a data center facility from harm - internal, external, malicious or natural - is as important to an organization as having a product or service to sell and a channel to market. On a scale of most-critical facilities, data centers rank with power plants, key transportation hubs and financial institutions." The company then explained that the live, virtual event "will address the challenges organizations face in designing, integrating, and migrating systems intended to keep a facility secure."
The schedule for Thursday, August 16 is as follows.
- 10:30 am CDT - Venue opens with live interaction
- 11:00 am CDT - Feature video presentation
- 11:30 am CDT - Live streaming video, interactive panel discussion
- 12:00 noon CDT - Partner pavilion opens
The live interactive panel discussion will be hosted by Anixter's vice president of technology, Andy Jimenez. Panelists include Rick Spillane, national sales manager with Sony Electronics and a member of ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum); Ron Ethier, vice president of data centers and managed services with Primus; and Benjamin Butchko, president and chief executive officer of Butchko Security Solutions.
Organizations sponsoring the event and available in the partner pavilion are APC by Schneider Electric, Belden, Berk-Tek, Chatsworth Products Inc., CommScope, Corning, Emerson Network Power, Legrand Ortronics, NVT, Panduit, Redwood Systems, Sony, TE Connectivity and Transition Networks.
Attendees will be eligible to receive one continuing education credit (CEC) toward certain BICSI professional accreditations. You can find more detailed information on the seminar here, including biographies of the panelists. You can register for the event here.
