Global Industry Analysts, Inc. (GIA) projects the world market for structured cabling systems to exceed $8.2 billion by the year 2015.

San Jose, CA -- In a new report, Global Industry Analysts, Inc. (GIA) projects the world market for structured cabling systems to exceed $8.2 billion by the year 2015. The firm says this number is primarily driven by the increasing demand for broadband Internet across mature or developing markets alike; and secondly, by the development of the Internet backbone in the emerging markets such as China and India.

Despite the economic recession prevailing in the global markets, the firm notes that the SCS market has continued on a growth path, albeit slower than the rate achieved before 2008.

The rapid proliferation of the wireless technology and a widespread belief that the wireless technology will eventually render physically structured cable technology redundant notwithstanding, GIA says that the SCS industry is expected to prosper over the foreseeable future and beyond. The SCS is expected to maintain this primacy for a long time in the future, though wireless will also gain an increasing market share, especially in cases where mobility is desired.

US and European markets dominate the global structured cabling systems market, according to the report. The SCS business in Asia-Pacific (including Japan) is expected to be the fastest growing, with the overall market size expected to reach a level of about US$1.3 billion by the year 2010. This growth would be led by a host of factors such as greater demand for enhanced bandwidth, increased incidence of Indian companies hosting mission critical applications such as ERP and CRM at remote locations, i.e., third party data centers.

Key players profiled in the report, titled "Structured Cabling Systems: A Global Strategic Business Report" include ADC Telecommunications, Inc., Advanced Cabling Systems, Inc., Alcatel-Lucent SA, Belden, Inc., Cisco Systems, Inc, CommScope, Inc., Corning Incorporated, D-Link Systems, Inc., Furukawa Electric Company Limited, Hitachi Cable Ltd, Hubbell Premise Wiring, Kub Telekomunikasi Sdn Bhd, Ortronics/Legrand, Amp NetConnect, and Xetra Networks, Inc., among others.
