FOLS webcast dives into OM4 fiber

July 9, 2010
Available for viewing anytime, the seminar provides detail on the multimode fiber set to support 40G and 100G Ethernet.

A free webcast seminar, produced by the TIA Fiber Optics LAN Section and available for viewing on-demand, dives into the technical aspects and benefits of OM4 fiber. Entitled OM4 Multimode Fibers for the Next Generation of Enterprise Networks, the seminar is delivered by John Kamino, product manager for multimode fiber with OFS.

Late last summer the Telecommunications Industry Association finalized the specifications for OM4 fiber. The FOLS presentation covers the market drivers that are pushing the need for OM4's high-bandwidth capabilities; an overview of optical fiber options; the OM4 fiber standards and specifications; the role of OM4 fiber in 40G and 100G Ethernet networks; and benefits of bend-optimized multimode fiber.

Anyone interested in viewing the webcast can do so at any time. The presentation slides are also available for download.
