As part of AFCOM's online Meet-A-Speaker program, PSU's Mark Saussure will explain what happened after a catastrophic UPS failure.

As part of AFCOM's Meet-A-Speaker program, the organization's president will hold a 30-minute online discussion with Mark Saussure, director, ITS data centers with Pennsylvania State University. The online discussion, at which participants can submit questions for Saussure, will take place from 1:00 to 1:30 pm EDT/10:00 to 10:30 am PDT on Thursday, July 26.

Saussure and AFCOM president Jill Yaoz will discuss some of the data center projects currently underway at Penn State. In providing an overview of the event, AFCOM explained, "During the conversation, Mark will preview a CRAC, sprinkler and UPS upgrade that started out well but just after getting underway had a catastrophic UPS failure that changed the entire scope and cost of the project."

This discussion is part of the Meet-A-Speaker program because AFCOM's Fall Data Center World conference will feature a virtual tour of Penn State's data centers, which Saussure will deliver. The July 26 online discussion "will showcase just a small portion of the larger tour that will be presented," during Data Center World, AFCOM says.

There is no cost to participate in the online discussion. You can register for it here.
