R&M Expands Netscale Patch Panel Line to Support Ultra-High-Density Cabling
R&M's Expanded Distribution Platforms
R&M has introduced new models to its Netscale patch panel portfolio. The expansion includes the Netscale 72 and Netscale 48 distribution platforms, offering two and four vertical rack units, enabling faster installation in 19-inch racks.
With the new stacked configurations, data center operators can connect up to 3,456 fibers across four vertical racks, meeting growing demands for space-efficient, high-performance connectivity. The Netscale 72 platform also supports retrofitting with the latest miniature and multi-fiber connector systems, helping operators transition to Ultra-High-Density (UHD) cabling.
Support for New Connector Types and Migration Paths
Netscale 72 supports both BASE8 and BASE12 parallel optical cabling, allowing distributor modules for each to fit into the same drawers. During migrations, technicians can simply swap or add trays without disconnecting other connections. Each height unit features six drawers that open from one side, enabling efficient access to individual connections.
Along with MPO, SC, and LC connectors, the platform accommodates new multi-fiber and Very Small Form Factor (VSFF) options such as CS, SN, MDC, MPO16, SN-MT, and MMC. This flexibility enables data centers to scale capacity or adapt to new network requirements without disruptive conversion work and maximize the use of valuable rack space.
Mixed Media Options for Gradual Infrastructure Upgrades
The Netscale 48 platform offers a mixed-media patch panel that supports both copper and fiber optic cabling. “This allows data centers to gradually replace older infrastructures during ongoing operations.” All Netscale models are compatible with R&M’s inteliPhy sensors for automated infrastructure management.
