Cable cutter works in confined spaces

The Open Jaw Cable Cutter from Klein Tools has front-loading jaws that the company says ‘easily wrap around cable in confined spaces.’

The Open Jaw Cable Cutter from Klein Tools is a ratcheting cutter with front-loading jaws, the company says, “that easily wrap around cable in confined spaces.” Klein also characterizes the cutter’s ratcheting mechanism as “high-leverage” and says it “allows for single-handed cutting of 600 MCM copper and 750 MCM aluminum without leaving burrs or sharp edges.” The company points out the cutter is not intended for steel or aluminum-conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR) cables.

The Open Jaw Cable Cutter has a spring-release lever that Klein says quickly resets the blades between cuts. It has plastic-covered handles and hand guards.

Klein product manager Ben Bainter said, “Klein Tools’ new Open Jaw Cable Cutter offers the best of both worlds. It has the open jaw design of traditional ‘lopper’ cable cutters as well as the compactness of ratcheting cable cutters.”
