Atlanta school upgrades to fiber-optic network to support BYOD

As reported by THE Journal, a chronicler of educational technology news: "The Walker School, a college-preparatory, PK-12 independent school in metro Atlanta, has upgraded from a 15 Mbps Internet connection to a fiber-optic network to support the school's use of educational applications and online resources, as well as its bring-your-own-device (BYOD) program."

THE Journal's Leila Meyer reports that, after consulting with other institutions in the area, the Walker School selected Comcast Business Class Ethernet to install a new 100 Mbps fiber-optic network across the school's seven-building campus. The work was performed this past summer. The new network reportedly provides 7x more bandwidth at a megabit-per-second cost that is 76% less than the school's previous Internet service.
