Estimating-software provider honored

Version 11 of McCormick Systems’ basic software package took a ‘ShowStoppers’ award at the NECA Convention.

Estimating-software package developer McCormick Systems recently announced that when V11 of its basic software package earned a “ShowStopper” award at this year’s NECA Convention, it marked the 14th time that a McCormick product has been chosen as a top product introduced at the annual NECA event.

Company president Todd McCormick said, “Version 11 is our latest base software product, with the latest upgrades and enhancements built-in. It applies to all of our products—for electrical yes, and for the software supplied to contractors doing automated-building-systems work, plumbing and mechanical contractors, and those in the transmission-and-distribution business.”

Among the most noticeable updates in Version 11 is its use of Microsoft’s “ribbon concept.” Todd McCormick explained, “We decided to go with Microsoft’s ribbon toolbar user interface. This is much cleaner than what we had before, and it’s something with which everyone is now familiar.

“For those who have used our system previously, it means they won’t ever again need to hunt for hidden features buried under menu options. That’s why we added it.”

With this ribbon-style interface, the company says, any contractor or estimator will be able to quickly find the commands needed to complete a task. Commands are organized in logical groups collected together under tabs. Each tab relates to a type of activity, such as “TakeOff” or “Bid Summary.”
