RMF Engineering launches A/V telecom group

April 20, 2011
Paul Bruckman, RCDD and CTS-D, will head the new group's operations, with the support of nine electrical staff members.

RMF Engineering (Baltimore, MD) has announced the launch of its audio/visual (A/V) and telecommunications group, which the firm says was formed to better service the building market's growing need for efficient, future-ready systems. The A/V-Telecomm Group is based out of RMF's Raleigh, NC office, and will serve clients across the U.S. and abroad. RMF contends that the formation of the new group makes it one of the only traditional engineering firms in the U.S. to offer full-scale, in-house A/V and telecom services.

Tim Griffin, division manager in Raleigh, explains, "For the past 12 years, our North Carolina office has garnered extensive expertise in telecomm design and implementation, as well as A/V support. Now, with the launch of our A/V-Telecomm Group, we are giving our clients and architecture partners a more holistic service offering – from design through implementation – in both the A/V and telecommunications capacities."

Griffin adds, "From fiber optics and structure cabling to projection systems and teleconferencing, our new division will bring all services under one roof, making for stronger all around design and project coordination, and serving as a strategic complement to our traditional MEP services."

Paul Bruckman, electrical designer at RMF's Raleigh office, will head the new group, backed by a team of electrical support staff. Bruckman, a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and a Certified Technology Specialist Designer (CTS-D), has extensive experience in the field of electrical power distribution, UPS, interior and exterior lighting systems, fire alarm systems, security and emergency power generation and data communication systems serving educational, healthcare, and government projects, including mission critical assignments. His design experience encompasses all phases of project design from survey through construction administration of both renovation and new projects.

Bruckman earned his CTS-D certification from InfoComm International and his RCDD from BICSI. The certifications acknowledge Bruckman as highly qualified and trained to provide A/V and telecomm design and engineering.

"Companies that employ professionals with the CTS-D designation have a competitive advantage in the marketplace," comments Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., InfoComm International's executive director and CEO. "With more bids requiring the CTS-D credential, increased recognition from architects and a limited pool of certificants, more engineering firms will be following RMF Engineering's lead. There is also a direct benefit to consumers, who can be confident of professionalism and an aspiration to excellence when working with companies that have invested in education and training to stay current on the latest AV technologies and techniques."

RMF notes that its A/V and telecom experience includes projects for:

Campbell University Law School
University of North Carolina (UNC) – Wilmington Teaching Laboratory
Harnett Health System –Central Campus Hospital Facility
North Carolina Central University – New Nursing School
NCSU Terry Center Veterinary Medical Center
Wake County Mental Hospital
