The company has released an updated version of its WinTotal cable marker and label printing software.

Tyco Electronics recently released an improved version of its cable marker and label printing software, WinTotal, designed for wire and cable identification as well as label printing applications.

To save set-up and installation time, WinTotal v5 software is pre-loaded with Tyco Electronics identification product templates and in built-in printer drivers for the company's identification printers. New features include simplified toolbar design, a system setup screen for fast print job selection, a database printing function, and a print preview option. A full on-screen help function is also available.

The template design allows graphics, logos, bar codes, lines, rectangles, and circles to be easily created, and also features a graphical user interface with a WYSIWYG [what you see is what you get] display, making the updated software simple to use.

The company says the software's new toolbar design aids navigation and label setup via keypad buttons and zoom in/out functions. The system setup screen and advanced printer setup function makesit easy to pick and print labels. All printer parameters are selectable from the print screen, e.g. printer speed and head density.

An “auto numbering product” function enables print jobs with serializations that update after printing. The database printing function enables data to be printed without having to import it into the WinTotal software first. If external data sources need to be exported or imported, this can be done with a new file format, which allows importing and exporting of user-defined layouts.

The WinTotal v5 software supports all current Tyco Electronics identification products and printers. It can be used with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) operating systems, and can run on networked computers so that the design function can be separated from printing. Language support includes English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, and Dutch.
