Draka Communications has announced a partnership with Swiss cable-laying specialist Plumettaz to develop new cable-laying productivity products tailored to FTTH deployments.
Optical fiber and cabling company Draka Communications has announced a partnership with Swiss cable-laying specialist Plumettaz to develop new cable-laying productivity products tailored to FTTH deployments. The first announced result of the partnership is a new technique and tool for fiber cable branching within customer premises. The new offering will be called the SmartDrawXS in Draka’s portfolio and branded independently by Plumettaz as the DomoJet. The hand-held device is designed to reduce the need for splicing and skilled labor, while simplifying the task of branching fiber inside the customer premises. It can enable an estimated saving of between 15 to 30% of costs customer premises fiber installation costs, says Draka. The technique is applicable to both outdoor and indoor plant applications.
