AFL describes its Mobile Splicing Workstation as a “4-in-1 solution” because in addition to providing a stable surface for setting up splicing tools and equipment, the workstation “also transforms into a dolly, scaffold, or low-profile creeper,” which makes it optimal for tight or uneven spaces, the company says.

Features integrated into the workstation include a power strip, precision ruler, drill guide, cutting groove, steel hammer surface, accessory storage, protractor, and carry handle. “The spacious surface fits your full splicing setup, with room for tools and an optional Apex Fiber Optic Splice Closure stand for high-count cable work,” the company points out, adding that the workstation helps prevent contamination while keeping fiber holders, cleavers, and the splicer within reach.

The 29-pound workstation’s steel frame has a 500-pound capacity, with a reversible top that can go from a no-slip surface to a laminated work surface. “The generous work surface accommodates your entire splicing setup with ample room for tools, equipment, and cable management during field operations,” AFL points out. “The reversible top panel features a non-slip surface for safe scaffold functionality. Integrated wheels enable smooth creeper mobility, while the rope connector transforms the unit into a robust dolly for transporting heavy equipment.”

The company points out the following applications and environments for which the Mobile Splicing Workstation is suited.

  • Telecommunications: Splicing fiber in central offices, splice points, and distribution hubs
  • FTTx deployments: When installing fiber-to-the-home, -business, or -curb networks
  • Data centers: In high-density fiber connections within rack environments
  • Outside plant operations: In tight utility spaces or challenging roadside cabinets
  • Emergency restoration: Where quick, efficient splicing is needed in varied environments

Summarizing the product’s values and benefits, AFL says, “By combining multiple functions in one premium solution, technicians can work faster, smarter, and more efficiently, reducing setup time and increasing productivity on every job.”
