Dust Cap Cleans Fiber Connector

Clearfield offers the ClearPass Connector Cleaning Dust Cap, which it describes as a “game-changing innovation that simplifies fiber connector cleaning while enhancing network performance.

“With built-in cleaning functionality and 94.5% effectiveness, it ensures faster installs, fewer errors, and a more reliable broadband experience,” the company adds.

Currently available for SC, FC, and ST connectors with 2.5-mm ferrules, the ClearPass Dust Cap ships standard on all applicable Clearfield jumpers. The company recently announced it has shipped 2 million units of ClearPass.

“It’s a smart, zero-training-required tool that supports quicker turnups, higher first-pass yields, and greater success across your entire fiber deployment,” Clearfield says. Technicians follow a four-step process: 1) Remove the cap; 2) Peel the foil; 3) Flip the cap, align, and push firmly without twisting; 4) Connect.

When announcing its 2-millionth-unit shipped, Clearfield stated, “This milestone reflects growing adoption of the solution across the entire fiber network, from the central office and data centers to outside plant and fiber-to-the-home deployments … Dirty connectors are the leading cause of intermittent fiber performance issues, such as signal loss and service disruptions, which often lead to costly return truck rolls.
