Weidmuller USA recently introduced a series of power supplies for applications including smart buildings and industrial automation that offer an audible click when the installer inserts the stripped wire into the contact point. That capability, which Weidmuller invented and calls SNAP IN, “ensures a faster, simpler installation option,” the company’s senior director of automation Ken Crawford said.

The PROeco II product series are the first power supplies to feature the SNAP-IN capability. The company noted, “It’s easy to reset the connection by pressing on a raised pusher to release the wire.”

Other characteristics of the power supply series are an efficiency rate up to 95%; a design that enables the devices to integrate into existing systems; startup in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius along with stable operation across a wide temperature range; a life expectancy exceeding 1 million hours; shallow 100-mm depth; low idle power consumption; visual indications of normal operation, overload prewarning and fault condition during commissioning and operation.
