The Model 683 hdsl Super Router has a 10Base-T Ethernet port that connects to a local area network (lan) and features a high-bit-rate digital subscriber line (hdsl) port for 768-kilobit-per-second full-duplex data rates over a single twisted-pair cable. Designed for small-office/home-office users who need to access high-speed data services on corporate networks or the Internet, this customer-premises hdsl router is 13 times faster than 56-kbit/sec analog modems. The router`s Swift-IP feature simplifies setup and maintenance, while integrating network address translation and dynamic host configuration protocol to allow plug-and-play shared access. Suitable for "last-mile" applications, the device can connect two lans that are connected by an existing copper infrastructure of 12,000 feet or less. The device is housed in a 2.15 x 8.36 x 9.1-inch desktop box and costs $1595.
