Datacom Technologies now offers test equipment that it guarantees will test unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cabling for Category 6 performance.

The company guarantees that testing capability even though a Category 6 standard does not currently exist. If the soon-to-be-released equipment does not conduct every test mandated by the forthcoming Category 6 standard, Datacom will upgrade the equipment with the capability to perform such tests.

This new equipment is available in two forms: the lancat VI, the latest in Datacom`s lancat tester series; and a plug-in performance module that can be attached to the lancat V-TwoWay or lancat Vx Category 5 cable testers. In addition to complying with the requirements for certifying Category 5 cable, the lancat VI performs measurements such as power-sum near-end crosstalk, power-sum equal-level far-end crosstalk, power-sum attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio, and structural return loss. The lancat VI will have all the offerings of Datacom`s Category 5 cable testers, including a built-in talk set. It will come with a two-year warranty.
