Spurred by rapidly evolving technology needs, Communications Systems Inc. (CSI/Suttle--Hector, MN), and Mohawk/CDT (Leominster, MA) announced their partnership to create enhanced local-area, wide-area, and metropolitan-area network systems.
CSI/Suttle designs, manufactures, and markets copper, coaxial-cable, and fiber-optic connecting devices and wiring systems for voice, high-speed data, and cable-TV markets. The company has also developed corrosion-resistant connector technology designed for hostile environments.
Mohawk/cdt develops wire and cable technology, including fiber-optic, copper, and composites. The company develops test documentation for all tia/eia-568a parameters, such as enhanced levels of attenuation- to-crosstalk ratio and structural return loss. The challenge for the partnership, according to a statement issued by CSI/Suttle, is to provide enhanced network capabilities for local-area, wide-area, and metropolitan-area networks to meet the rapidly evolving future of information technology.
"In an installation, end-users are sometimes concerned about the long-term durability of a system. They want to get a warranty to make sure that it`s going to last for the lifetime of the installation," says CSI/Suttle`s Bill Cavanagh. He says that often, cable is manufactured by one party and connecting products are manufactured by another. "Those two distinct parties can offer whatever warranties they want to, but the warranties don`t always coincide," he says. "We`re going the next step and saying we want those warranties to coincide to ensure that the end-user has complete coverage."
