CSD sealing plugs provide fire-resistant as well as smoke, gas, and water-tight penetrations to carry one or more steel, copper and GRP pipes as well as flexible PVC and PE/aluminum pipes. Products range from single-sealing plugs to multi-sealing products for two, three or five same-diameter cables or pipes. The plugs can be installed easily after the cables or pipes have been installed. Sealing performance is equivalent to 1 bar excess pressure at the rear of the plug. In tests, pressures above 2.5 bar have been measured on the flange side.

The AAD-130DC 130-watt DC/DC switch power supply designed for telecommunications applications provides an input voltage range of 36 to 72 volts DC and a choice of four available outputs with current ratings from 1.5 to 16 amps. This compact device is built to comply with EMI filtering, surge withstand, and other certifying agency operational requirements. According to the company, unlike other high-density DC/DC converters, the addition of a chassis to the AAD-130DC increases durability and reliability by reducing component temperatures. The convection-cooled version provides 80 watts of output power. An optional 15 CFM cooling fan is available, designed to enable the device to provide 130 watts of output power.

Contractor’s Web portal

A new Web portal for the Forefront construction management software is designed to give a contractor’s employees and customers access to critical data and functions-including payroll/time card and customer service-from any computer via an Internet connection. A Time and Quantity entry application expedites worker time card entry from the field. Project managers, foremen, and individual employees can log on to the portal to enter their time into Forefront. A contractor can also specify that only select individuals be allowed to enter and view information. A Service Inquiry and Request application lets customers enter a service request directly into Forefront. The contractor then analyzes the request and determines how best to proceed before responding. Customers can also gain real-time access to their service and billing history.

Utility line locator

Patent-pending technology for the RIDGID SeekTech SR-20 utility line locator is designed to provide a simplified method for tracing underground utilities. The unit uses a combination of multi-directional antennas, a mapping display, and state-of-the-art location pro- cessing. In addition to tracing transmitted frequencies, the SR-20 offers advanced passive modes designed for searches of other metallic lines that could be present. A mapping feature shows target line direction and changes in direction as they occur, left-right guidance arrows, signal strength, and a proximity number that increases as distance to the target decreases.

Fuel-cell power

Integrating power, cooling, management and services in a rack-style design, the InfraStruXure lets you power an IT system with long-running fuel cell technology. You can stack up to three 10-kW modules of polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells per rack. Energy is stored and supplied to the system via bottled hydrogen. The company says that small to medium data centers are suitable applications for the system’s early adopter phase. InfraStruXure is especially designed for environments limited by building codes, emission requirements, or physical constraints.

Battery integrity monitor

Astratec Electronics Ltd.’s BIM1 battery integrity monitor continuously monitors battery systems for early warning of faults and failures. It checks the battery every 15 minutes, measuring voltage and impedance, and provides a signal if the battery is removed from the system. BIM1 is available for 12-volt to 120-volt systems, with models available for local or remote alarm indication. A software program automatically starts the setup process, with no need for calibration or other adjustments.

Power control for remote site equipment

Bringing power control versatility to remote sites, the PowerBoss One is designed to allow power-cycling of eight independent pieces of equipment-such as routers, servers, transceivers, amplifiers and air conditioners-at the varying voltages commonly found in remote and local sites. The unit can handle AC or DC current up to 10 amps at 60 volts DC or 277 volts AC. Unlike devices that use solid-state switches, the PowerBoss One’s relays can be used in a normally closed position, designed to ensure that power will be provided to all remote equipment if the unit encounters a power failure. The rack-mount unit weighs 5.5 pounds and measures 14.25 x 1.75 x 7.8 inches. Power requirements are 24 to 60 volts DC, with an operating temperature range of 0° to -40° C.

Coil deployment trailer

The self-load Coil Master CM 4000 and manual-load CM 4000ML coil deployment trailers are designed to safely transport and deploy large diameter cabling or conduit coils. Both models feature a sturdy cage design that contains coils as they are released; operators remain safe because they work at ground level at all times. According to the company, a lifting arm on the self-load model lets you safely and easily lift and load coils into the trailer in less than one minute without having to detach a hoisting sling once a coil is in the deployment position. The trailers can handle coils up to 142 inches in diameter and weighing 4,000 pounds, and feature a rear platform design that accepts an optional McElroy Duct Preparation Machine for straightening and re-rounding 3-inch to 6-inch conduit.

Transceiver hosting with EMI protection

The Dual Port SFP EMI cage is designed for use with copper and fiber small-form-factor-pluggable (SFP) transceivers for Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, and Infiniband installations. The two-piece hybrid design incorporates a die-cast body and port-to-port spacing with locking and spring tabs, plus press-fit pins as part of a single stamped bottom piece. The press-fit pins let you mount the cage securely to a printed circuit board without soldering. Lightpipes can be added to the cages to display LED indicators from the host board to the chassis bezel, and conductive elastomers can be used to create a tight seal to the host bezel, improving EMI performance.

Rolling tool kit

For BNC connector installers, the Rollabout tool kit case features a hard shell, interior foam levels for placement of a variety of tools, smooth-rolling wheels, and retractable handle. The interior features three layers of protection: a hard layer for tool placement/po-sition, a soft layer to cushion lateral tool movement, and egg crate-style soft foam within the lid for vertical protection. Fully lockable and waterproof, each case can be custom-ordered with a variety of tools, such as coax cable cutter, center contact crimp tool, recharageable coax stripping tool, and a test unit.
