July 29, 2005 - Interactive Web site survey will look at nine key factors influencing the future of the electrical industry.

The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA-www.necanet.org) is soliciting feedback from electrical professionals from across North America.

NECA, via an interactive survey on its Web site, is seeking to define the "pulse of the industry" with respect to nine key factors influencing the future of the electrical industry.

"We feel it is central to our mandate that we be aware of the industry's stance on issues surrounding globalization, new technologies, changes to Division 16, the MasterFormat and law," says Steve Schultz, executive director for conventions and expositions for NECA. "We're reaching out to our thousands of members and electrical professionals so that we can understand their concerns and provide programs, services and support that address their needs."

NECA will stage its annual convention in New Orleans from Sept. 17-20. The event is designed to draw together more than 8,000 attendees. The conference will focus on changes within the industry that will affect business during 2006 and beyond.

"Homeland and corporate security alone have caused major shifts in our business," says Schultz. "Combined with far-reaching changes to bid processes and the more complex legal landscape, our attendees are facing a whole new set of business realities that require innovation, education and practical information.

Schultz says NECA will share the results of the survey with all respondents.

"We will use the feedback in order to set NECA's priorities for the next 12-14 months," he says.

NECA's survey is relevant to the structured cabling industry; the organization bills itself as the voice of the $100 billion industry responsible for lighting, power, and communication systems in buildings and communities across the United States. The association has 120 local chapters, which advance the electrical contracting industry through advocacy, education, research, and standards development.
