General Cable has unveiled its new UL Type ONFP approved indoor/outdoor plenum-rated distribution cable.

The cable is part of the company's NextGen Brand optical fiber portfolio.

The cable is available with any industry standard optical fiber, including G10Xplus - 50/125 fibers designed to provide 10Gbits/sec performance over 300 m and 500 m at 850 nm respectively, and low-water peak singlemode fiber.

The cable is the latest in General Cable's family of indoor/outdoor cable, which includes loose tube riser, plenum and low-smoke zero-halogen cables, riser distribution cables and central tube riser and plenum cables.

"With this additional product offering, we are able to meet the needs of any type of inter-building application," says Trish Dawson, market development manager for NextGen Fiber Optics. "System designers can now choose the cable design that is best suited for their particular installation and operating environment."
