Protective-eyewear makers merge

March 20, 2002-- Uvex Corp. and Glendale Inc. have been merged into the Bacou-Dalloz Group.

The protective laser eyewear products manufactured by the Uvex Corporation and GPT Glendale Inc. have been merged into the Bacou-Dalloz Group (www.bacou-dalloz.com), the company reported. The merger combines the resources of Christian Dalloz and Bacou, two makers of personal-protection products. The Bacou-Dalloz Group has 6,500 employees and 51 production facilities. Its 2001 sales were approximately $790 million.

GPT Glendale will specialize in laser eye protection, and will offer the Uvex and Glendale brands. Richard Pellegrini, vice president and general manager, will lead the GPT Glendale operation; Mark McLear will be director of sales and marketing.
