A collaboration among identification-product manufacturer Brady Worldwide (www.bradycorp.com), test-instrument provider Fluke Networks (www.flukenetworks.com), and cable-management software developer Tempo Pleasant Hill (www.imap.textron.com) has resulted in an automated documentation and labeling system that complies with the forthcoming TIA/EIA-606A standard.
Tempo's docIT software package interfaces with both the Brady LabelMark label-design software and the CableManager software package in Fluke's DSP-4300. "A significant goal of this automation is to reduce the redundancy of entering the same information into a tester, a label-maker, and a cable-management software package," said Fluke Networks' Hugo Draye. "And, to reduce the human error that goes along with that redundancy."
"By creating a link to the label software, docIT simplifies the process," said Tempo's sales and marketing director Brian Julian. "Whether it's horizontal or backbone cabling, assets, grounding, pathways, or firestop locations, users can create a wide variety of label types and eliminate common errors."
New versions of each respective product includes the automation interface. Each company also is making the interface available as a download to their existing packages. More information is available at each company's Web site.
