Centurion Network unveils new cable testing adapter

Nov. 21, 2002 - The Centurion is designed to reduce the testing phase to one or two people.

Centurion Network, LLC has developed a cable testing adapter designed to allow installers to test correct pairing and continuity in an efficient and cost-effective way.

The adapter, called the Centurion, works with any basic twisted-pair tester on the market. The device is designed to make the testing of any data communications system easy and inexpensive. It is designed to enhance testing capabilities, and reduce the testing phase to one or two people.

Cable testers consist of two modules that are attached to each end of the cable under test. These cables typically extend from a central wiring closet to offices, which may be distant from the closet or even located on a different floor. The installer must return to the central wiring closet to reconnect the remote tester module as he tests each cable, or alternatively, a second person may perform this task.

The Centurion adapter connects the remote tester module to up to 12 cables simultaneously, eliminating the need for reconnection and the numerous trips to the wiring closet. Several adapters can be daisy-chained to handle larger networks.

"By connecting an industry standard cable tester to multiple cables at the same time, the Centurion enables one person to go from room to room testing cable integrity, thereby eliminating the need for two or more individuals that are currently required to perform the same task," says Stephen DeAngelis, COO of Centurion Network, based in Hamlet, Pa. "It also makes the process extremely efficient by reducing the amount of time required to complete the testing."

Each Centurion comes with 14 RJ-45 patch cables. For more information, visit www.centurionnet.net.
