July 18, 2002--Lennie Lightwave, mascot of the Fiber U program, gets his own Web site as the principals of the former Fotec launch a training-content firm.

The Lennie Lightwave character, created in 1993 as the mascot of the "Fiber U" fiber-optic training program, now has his own Web site. www.LennieLightwave.com includes an updated version of the document "Lennie Lightwave's Guide to Fiber Optics." The document has been updated from its original version to include advances in fiber-optic technology. Its creators say the will continue to update it to keep pace with fiber-optic developments.

Those creators are Jim and Karen Hayes, who were principals of the former Fotec-a fiber-optic test-equipment company that was acquired by Fluke Networks (www.flukenetworks.com) in 2001. The Hayeses now operate VDV Works (www.VDVworks.com), which creates technical content for Web sites, brochures, manuals, and training programs.
