Agilent Technologies (Palo Alto, CA) has introduced its Photonic Switching Platform technology that allows voice, data and video to be switched as optical signals without converting them from photons to electrons.

Agilent Technologies (Palo Alto, CA) has introduced its Photonic Switching Platform technology that allows voice, data and video to be switched as optical signals without converting them from photons to electrons. The company believes that when combined with DWDM, the Photonic Switching Platform will unlock the full potential of an all-optical network.

The platform includes a 32x32 port photonic switch, and a dual 16x32 version. It includes switch-control electronics and an API. To integrate the platform, customers supply power and an industry-standard LAN interface. (www.agilent.com/comms/photonicswitch)
