The Canadian government reports that seven companies plan to bid in a wireless spectrum auction that will start on January 15.

The Canadian government reports that seven companies plan to bid in a wireless spectrum auction that will start on January 15. The new licenses will add 40 megahertz to the total spectrum in use. Canada's leading wireless operators have applied to bid for blocks of spectrum in the two gigahertz frequency band which supports larger volumes of data traffic and allows it to move faster over mobile phones.
