Atheros Communications (Sunnyvale, CA; www.atheros.com) has introduced a chipset based on its "radio on a chip" technology, providing standards-based, high-speed, low-cost wireless LAN connections with offices and homes. The AR5000 provides a two-chip, all-CMOS, end-to-end solution, eliminating the expense of a separate power amplifier, SAW filter, or MAC for next-generation 5-GHz wireless LANs.
