Nortel Networks (Brampton, ON; www.nortelnetworks.com) and Xilinx (San Jose, CA; www.xilinx) have joined the HiperLAN2 Global Forum that promotes the wireless standards for connections up to 54 Mbits/sec in the globally allocated and free 5 GHz spectrum. HiperLAN2 seeks to bring seamless connectivity between communication devices and networks, including third-generation cellular systems, and offers mobility, flexibility and quality of service for future multimedia and real-time video applications.
