The equipment market will grow from $624 million in 1999 to $3 billion in 2002.

According to a report by Cahners In-Stat Group (www.instat.com), the wireless LAN (WLAN) equipment market will grow from $624 million in 1999 to $3 billion in 2002. WLAN technology sales are driven by an organization's desire to give employees greater mobility. While WLANs cannot match the price and performance of standard wired networks, they are improving rapidly on both fronts.
