Gentek Announces Major Telecom Expansion

GenTek Inc. and Krone, Inc., announced a $40 million expansion plan for their copper and fiber optic cable manufacturing facilities.

GenTek Inc. (www.gentek-global.com) and Krone, Inc., (www.kroneamericas.com) GenTek's principal telecommunications subsidiary, announced a $40 million expansion plan for their copper and fiber optic cable manufacturing facilities. Krone's manufacturing facility in Sydney, Nebraska, will add capacity devoted primarily to advanced data cables to support TrueNet (Krone's cabling solution to prevent bit errors caused by the structured cabling system) and other broadband applications. The fiber optic facility in North Bennington, Vermont will also be expanded, adding capacity primarily to support enterprise fiber-to-the-desk and fiber backbone systems.
