Mary Bradshaw, vice president of global enterprise market development for the Telecommunications Industry Association (www.tiaonline.org), has received the prestigious Tom F. Carter award for 2001. She is the first staff person and first woman to receive the award.

The award was created to recognize outstanding service in the public interest in the field of telecommunications. It was given to and named in honor of Tom F. Carter, a founder of the North American Telecommunications Association (NATA), the predecessor of the former MultiMedia Telecommunications Association. Since its inception in 1978, the Carter award has been given to 21 industry leaders to recognize their outstanding contributions to the telecommunications industry.

"For almost 20 years, Mary has helped association members seize opportunities in the restructured market," says Fred Yentz, chair of the TIA Global Enterprise Market Development Committee. "In addition to helping members identify and pursue new market opportunities in the wake of the Bell System breakup, she has been instrumental in defining and successfully launching the association's market development programs for emerging technologies."

Yentz says Bradshaw's work and experience in the industry have contributed significantly to the TIA's and its members' leadership in the enterprise market for convergence solutions.

"I am extremely pleased to honor Mary for her distinguished service," says Yentz.

Bradshaw recently took on the role of vice president of the TIA's Global Enterprise Market Development Committee when the MultiMedia Telecommunications Association, of which she served as president from 1998-2000, was integrated into the TIA.

Prior to her role as president of the MultiMedia Telecommunications Association, Bradshaw also held a number of other management positions with the organization. These included vice president, director of industry relations and director of programs and publications. Bradshaw has managed the association's market development/market education programs and selected advocacy programs, as well as its market research initiatives. These include the TIA's annual Telecommunications Market Review and Forecast.
