September 17, 2001 U.K. companies subscribing to the Telecommunications Industry Association (www.tiaonline.org) Qualified Cabling Installation Company Scheme (TIA-Q) must now employ a qualified BICSI (www.bicsi.org) RCDD to manage and supervise the technical aspects of all projects. BICSI Europe regional manager Allen Burton says, "We are delighted that yet another organization recognizes BICSI registration as a pre-requisite. Two years ago, there were only a couple of BICSI RCDDs operating in Europe—now there are over 100, with more qualifying each month." Burton anticipates that the U.K. will follow the lead of the U.S. and Canada, where a high percentage of telecommunications projects stipulate that an RCDD be on the installation team.
