September 13, 2001 Corning Cable Systems (www.corning.com/cablesystems) recently announced the availability of its UniCam LC connector. The connector uses the company's no-epoxy, no-polish UniCam technology in combination with the LC small-form-factor interface. Designed like a mini-pigtail, the connector incorporates a fiber stub that is fully bonded into a ceramic ferrule and factory polished. The opposite field fiber end is cleaved and placed into the patented alignment of the mechanical splice. The field fiber is then mated to the fiber stub and the connector is cammed to complete the termination.

The UniCam LC is part of Corning Cable Systems' LANscape series of solutions, which include optical-fiber products, services, and support.
