Wave7 Optics supports fiber-to-the-home council, CTO elected to board

September 18, 2001 Wave7 Optics has elected Jim Farmer to serve on the board of directors for the Fiber-to-the-Home Council, and Emmanuel Vella will serve as vice chairman of the membership committee.

September 18, 2001 Wave7 Optics (www.wave7optics.com) has elected Jim Farmer, its chief technical officer (CTO), to serve on the board of directors for the Fiber-to-the-Home Council. Wave7 CMO, Emmanuel Vella will also participate in the council, serving as vice chairman of the membership committee.

Farmer holds approximately 80 patents in broadband technology. He was honored with the 1996 National Cable Television Association Vanguard Award in Technology and was inducted into the Society of Cable Television Engineers (SCTE) Hall of Fame in 1997, and was inducted into Cable Pioneers in 1998. Former president of the IEEE (www.ieee.org) Consumer Electronics Society and current editor of its newsletter, Farmer also serves on the program committee for the NCTA Convention, the NCTA engineering committee, and the IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics.
