American Access notches first sales of wireless access point enclosure

October 24, 2001 After a pilot program, end-user buys 1,000 ceiling enclosures containing WLAN access points.

American Access Technologies (www.aatk.com), through its distributor Anixter (www.anixter.com), has sold 1,000 wireless access point ceiling enclosures. American Access did not identify the customer, only saying it is "a worldwide leader in networking services."

The user is installing the enclosures after successfully testing them in a pilot program, the manufacturer reported. The user will implement wireless networks into its corporate facilities around the country, said American Access vice president Wil Boyd. "We hope this initial order is the first of many," he said.
