General Cable promotes Andrews to senior VP

General Cable (www.generalcable.com) has promoted J. Michael Andrews to senior vice president of the company in addition to his role as general manager of its utility cables business.

Andrews, who was formerly a vice president of the company, will continue to report to Gregory Kenny, president and chief executive officer of General Cable.

"Since joining General Cable in 1996, Mike has consistently performed in every challenge that he has faced and has clearly demonstrated the vision, understanding, and commitment to lead General Cable's Utility Team to new levels of performance."

In addition to its communications and specialty cable products, General Cable is a $550 million global source of energy cable for power generation, transmission and distribution and the largest energy products supplier in North America. Marketed under the BICC brand, General Cable's Utility Cables product line includes TranPowr bare aluminum overhead cables, PowrMax insulated high-voltage cables and EmPowr and PowrServ medium- and low-voltage distribution cables.

Andrews joined General Cable in 1996 as a product manager responsible for OEM harnesses and assemblies and was quickly promoted to lead the OEM Sales channel. In 1999, Andrews was promoted to vice president and general manager, Utility Products. Prior to joining General Cable, he held management positions with Andersen Consulting and Fifth Third Bank. Andrews holds a bachelor's degree in business management and a masters of business administration from the University of Cincinnati.
