July 10, 2001 Residential-system educator The Training Dept. (www.trainingdept.com) has launched a training-oriented club aimed at installers and custom-installation companies involved in residential-technology products and services. Club members receive a 10% discount on the company's video and DVD training courses and also receive one free video when they sign up.

Members automatically receive every training course, skill-builder video, and consumer video, at the 10% discount, at the time the product begins shipping. The Training Dept. says it expect to ship six to eight new videos over the next year. Members can return the videos within 30 days if they are not satisfied. Standard pricing for the products are $195 for a training course, $59 for a skill-builder, and $29 for a consumer video.

In addition to the discounted products, club members get access to an e-mail address for free technical help with any subject covered in the videos. They also are automatically entered into a monthly drawing for free products, including videos, books, tools, and test equipment. Club members are also automatically entered into a drawing for free admission to a Training Dept. class, and they receive a monthly e-mail newsletter.

The Training Dept. president Grayson Evans says the club "solves two important problems we have always wanted to address: installation companies get new and updated training without having to find out about it, and they can receive follow-up technical support via the online e-mail service on all subjects we cover."
