July 12, 2001 Steve Walker, president of Steve Walker and Associates, will present the luncheon keynote at "Ventures 2001," a venture capital (VC) forum hosted by the TIA (www.tiaonline.org) on Thursday, July 19 at the McLean Hilton in Tysons Corner, VA. This second TIA VC forum, sponsored by Piper, Marbury, Rudnick & Wolfe LLP, will bring together venture capitalists and companies in the communications sector seeking to finance a growth plan.

Steve Walker will provide insight into past and future trends in the VC community and offer ways to increase chances of obtaining funding and support for start-up companies.

The companies attending range from emerging technology start-ups to established companies, largely in the telecommunications arena. Venture capitalists include local, northern Virginia companies, several East coast-based firms, and venture representatives from large technology software companies and manufacturers.

In addition to presentations by companies seeking funding, attendees will hear presentations by leaders in the VC community. Presentations will be followed by a networking reception.
