April 26, 2001 Allied Business Intelligence (www.alliedworld.com) has released a market study predicting a rebound next year (2002) in the global multi-tenant unit (MTU), multi-dwelling unit (MDU), and hospitality markets. The study, MTU, MDU and Hospitality Markets, focuses on in-building technologies for commercial and residential buildings and hotels. Technologies covered include Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), Ethernet, optical fiber, wireless local area network (LAN), and proprietary and hybrid networks.

Covering the years 2000 through 2006, the study estimates a total market value of just $500 million in 2000, with about half of the sales that year in the hospitality sector. By 2006, ABI projects a total market worldwide of over $2.6 billion in equipment revenue, with approximately $1.3 billion in the hospitality sector, $800 million in the MDU market, and $400 million in the MTU market.
