May 25, 2001 The Training Dept. is now shipping its latest video-based training course in its Home Technology Series—"Residential Installation Basics." The three-hour video is aimed at new installers.

According to The Training Dept., the video helps prepare the viewer for low-voltage testing, such as the CEDIA Installer Level 1 Exam and state exams. Topics covered in the video include codes and standards, job-site safety regulations, wire and cable basics, connector types and installation, job documentation, job-site management, proper prewire installation techniques, proper trim-out techniques, grounding and bonding, and testing.

The course's sponsors include Ideal Industries, Cable Plus, CommScope, Microtest, CEDIA (Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association), SIA (Security Industry Association), CEA (Consumer Electronics Association), and CABA (Continental Automated Building Association).
