Five Draka companies form telephony-cable alliance

May 25, 2001 Five of the Draka Holding (www.drakaholding.com) companies formed a strategic alliance, called Draka Comteq, aimed at combining research, development, manufacturing, sales, and marketing. The group is targeting long-haul telephony service providers with both fiber-optic and copper-based materials.

The five Draka companies involved in the alliance are Draka Fibre Technology in the Netherlands; NKF Kabel in the Netherlands; Draka Denmark Optical Cable in Denmark; Draka Telekom in Germany; and NK Cables Ltd. in Finland. According to a release announcing the alliance, each organization remains responsible for its own activities and there will be no change in the legal entities.

Overall, Draka has 60 operating companies in 25 countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
